The Vietnam Game wardens were U.S. Navy personnel who served in Operation Game Warden, a mission to control and secure the waterways of the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War. Established in 1966 under Task Force 116, these "Game wardens" patrolled rivers and canals in small, fast boats like the Patrol Boat, Riverine (PBR), tasked with disrupting Viet Cong supply routes and movements. Their missions involved boarding and inspecting river traffic, engaging enemy forces, and supporting ground units like the U.S. Army’s 9th Infantry Division. This demanding and often dangerous work was crucial for controlling the vital river networks and denying the Viet Cong free movement, marking the Game wardens as a key part of riverine operations in Vietnam.
This mug is a great choice for anyone looking to honor and remember the sacrifices made during this historic period and of the significant role of those in the Brown Water Navy.
