"Yankee Station" was a crucial location in the Gulf of Tonkin during the Vietnam War, serving as the primary staging area for U.S. Navy aircraft carriers conducting air operations against North Vietnam. Located approximately 100 miles off the coast of North Vietnam, Yankee Station was operational from the early 1960s until the end of the Vietnam War in 1973.
Several U.S. Navy aircraft carriers operated from Yankee Station, including the USS Enterprise (CVN-65), USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), USS Ranger (CV-61), and USS Constellation (CV-64) and many others along with all their escorts. These ships formed the backbone of the Navy's power in the region.
